Caring for the Muslim Patient- RCNA Workshop (Vic)
3 December, 2010, Melbourne
Most healthcare professionals may have to care for a Muslim patient at some stage. Being cared for in hospital, a day surgery facility or a nursing home can be a very stressful experience. For healthcare professionals and pastoral carers, knowledge of and sensitivity towards a patient’s religious and cultural background can help providing appropriate and effective care to their Muslim patients.
The topics covered in this workshop are:
- Introduction to Islam.
- Caring for the Muslim patient from the cradle to the grave.
- The Muslim diet – halal vs haram.
- Resolving disputes with Muslim patients.
