Ageing in Australia: The Immigrant Experience’ DVD Launch
The Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing launched a new production that will assist aged care service providers in the delivery of culturally inclusive care.
The Minister for Multicultural Affairs Senator Kate Lundy launched ‘Ageing in Australia: The Immigrant Experience’ in front of 60 guests at The Immigration Museum in Melbourne on Monday 24th September. Arnold Zable – award-winning author and storyteller also spoke at the launch.
The production features four people from different migrant backgrounds approaching the later stages of life sharing their migration experiences, reflections of living in Australia and their hopes as they age in Australia.
It is designed to provide a unique insight into the thoughts and experiences of people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and to assist policy makers, service providers and other relevant stakeholders to learn about this growing group in the Australian population. Due to language barriers, elderly migrants are often unable to participate in and share their thoughts with the wider Australian community.
